Castellated girders

Castellated girders are known as an efficient alternative to the classical rolled sections. They are being produced from rolled sections by zigzag cutting their webs, which is followed by welding the two parts together in the peaks of zigzag cut. The resulting section is higher than the original one, with higher bending stiffness and load capability while maintaining the low weight and reasonable price. The castellated girders are used as bearing parts of roofs, floors, walls or other structures which should acquire high loading capability with minimal dead weight and price. Other advantages of castellated girders include the possibility of installations, plumbing, wiring etc. to pass through the holes of section web, better sheer connection of steel with concrete or possibility to create arches or general curves according to the specific needs of customers.

NOVING produces several typical series of castellated girders. The classical ones are the symmetrical castellated girders with hexagonal holes. The symmetrical castellated girders with circular holes are designed to fulfill the aesthetic criteria besides their primary bearing function. Other series is asymmetrical castellated girders with hexagonal holes, usable primarily for composite steel or steel and concrete structures, where their asymmetry enables the optimal material usage.
